Envevo is thrilled to announce that our recent installation at Northfleet School for Girls has been spotlighted in the government’s celebration of over 1,400 EV charging sockets installed at schools and colleges across the UK.

Northfleet School for Girls: Leading the Way

Northfleet School for Girls has successfully implemented 2 dual 7.4kW Rolec AutoCharge units, a robust and hard-wearing pedestal ideal for workplaces on their school grounds. These were installed by our Fleet team at Envevo and powered by our back-office system, Boost eCharge.  The sustainability efforts of the school have been recognised, making it a model for others to follow. The installation at Northfleet School not only meets the growing demand for EV charging infrastructure but also demonstrates the practical benefits of the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) for state funded education institutions.

During a recent visit to Northfleet School for Girls, Lilian Greenwood, the Minister for the Future of Roads, commended the school’s dedication to adopting EV charging infrastructure. The minister emphasised how such initiatives not only support sustainable transportation but also generate additional income for educational purposes. Her visit highlights the importance of the WCS and the positive impact it has on schools including Northfleet.

Empowering Schools with the UK Government’s Workplace Charging Scheme For State Funded Education Institutions

The UK Government’s WCS has been instrumental in this achievement. The WCS for State Funded Education Institutions is designed to support the installation of EV chargepoints at workplaces, including educational establishments. This voucher-based scheme provides eligible applicants with financial support, covering up to 75% of the total costs of purchasing and installing EV chargepoints, capped at £2500 per socket and up to 40 sockets per applicant. Administered by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), the scheme aims to make charging infrastructure more accessible. Recently, the WCS has been extended until March 2026, offering further opportunities for schools to benefit from this funding.

Envevo’s Role in the Success

At Envevo, we are proud to be at the forefront of this initiative. Our dedicated fleet team works closely with schools to help them apply for the WCS, ensuring they can take full advantage of the available funding. With years of experience in the EV charging sector, our team provides comprehensive services, including site surveys, tailored designs, installations, and ongoing maintenance. This end-to-end support ensures a seamless and efficient process for schools, allowing them to focus on their core mission of education.

One of the standout features of our offering is the Boost eCharge back-office system, featured recently in Kent News Online coverage of the ministers visit to Northfleet School for Girls. This advanced software provides schools with total control over their charging infrastructure. With Boost eCharge, schools can monitor and manage their chargers in real-time, optimise energy usage, and ensure the efficient operation of their EV charging stations.

The success of Northfleet School for Girls is a testament to the impact of the UK Government’s Workplace Charging Scheme, Rolecs future-proof hardware and Envevo’s installation expertise. By partnering with schools to apply for the grant and install chargepoints on-site, our dedicated fleet team are playing a crucial role in enhancing the operational efficiency of educational institutions. Northfleet School’s success story paves the way for a more efficient future for schools across the country.
