The UK government has extended its EV Charge Point grant schemes and introduced a brand-new funding stream to support depot-based charging infrastructure. These updates are designed to accelerate the rollout of EV infrastructure across homes, businesses, and now fleet depots.

At Envevo, we welcome these changes. They align with our mission to make EV infrastructure simple, scalable, and future-ready. Our team are experienced in end-to-end depot electrification for a range of fleets and look forward to supporting operators on their net-zero journey.

What’s New?

Depot Charging Scheme – Launched 16 July 2025

The newly launched Depot Charging Scheme is a game-changer for fleet operators. It provides funding for the installation of EV charging infrastructure at depots used by HGVs, vans, and coaches.

  • Covers up to 75% of eligible costs, capped at £1 million per organisation
  • Open to private and public sector fleets, including local authorities and charities
  • Applications close 28 November 2025, with projects to be completed by 31 March 2026

This scheme complements the existing Plug-in Van and Truck Grant and is a major step forward in supporting the commercial transition to zero-emission transport.

Depot Charging Scheme: Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Depot Charging Scheme, your organisation should operate or manage a UK-based depot that services heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), vans, light commercial vehicles, or coaches. The depot must support fleet activities for private businesses, public sector organisations, or registered charities.

You’ll need to show that you can complete your installation by 31 March 2026 and projects that have already started installation work before applying are not eligible for funding.

Applicants are asked to present a clear business case outlining the size and type of fleet using the depot, the planned charging infrastructure, and estimated usage. Funding is available for both new charging installations and upgrades to existing depot charging points however, ongoing operational costs are not covered.

All charging equipment must be smart-enabled and meet UK safety and interoperability standards.

If you meet these requirements, you’re well on your way to making the most of this opportunity to boost your organisation’s transition to electric vehicles.

Organisations are encouraged to engage with experienced EV infrastructure partners early in the process to ensure a smooth application and timely installation. With the deadline for applications set for 28 November 2025, and all works to be completed by 31 March 2026, early action is recommended to maximise the benefits of this significant funding opportunity.
